Took the cover off the FICM....48+ volts for all tests. At least that appears to be good. Still no start. Fast crank, no smoke. Motorcraft filters. 185,xxx miles. Stock filter covers. Oil full, due for a change, at the 5000 mile mark, but not gonna change cold oil.
I have same problem, icp 1001 psi, batt volt 10.75, ficm 47.5 read with AE all while cranking. Possible wiring problem from alt to pass batts. Voltage dropped to 8 after moving wiring harness on that side.New motor craft batts in 0511
OK my problem went away. Turns out the charger I was using is a piece of crap! Put my old standby on this A.M. and 11.5 hours later both batts fully charged, truck started right up. Voltage seems ok, with all acc on full 13.35 at idle, 1100rpm it's 14.2 volts.
Hopefully that's the end of your issue Excursion4x4!
As for mine, the truck is done. They said it needed another (#4?) EGR. Still kinda scratching my head on that one since it has the EGR delete kit. EDGE Insight CTS came in yesterday, so I'll throw it on when I pick it up in Columbus Saturday.
~$3300 + tax, not including Insight and rental car = OUCH!!!

Here are the codes / notes from the work report. I tried to break it up by group, but may have not got it right.
Found circuit low codes for all injectors. Found P0407, P0488, P2285
Found circuit low codes for all injectors. Monitored PIDS, Found FICM voltage dropping below 45V.
Found P0407. Peformed pinpoint tests. Pinpoint tests led to EGR throttle body at fault.
Found P0488. Performed pinpoint tests. Pinpoint tests led to faulty throttle position sensor.
Found P2285. Upon inspection found ICP sensor connector unplugged (I must have forgot to plug back in).
Upon test drive and retest, found P0404. Performed pinpoint tests. Pinpoint tests led to faulty EGR valve (I have EGR delete kit...?).
Replaced FICM. Monitored PIDS, Voltage within spec at this time. Replaced throttle body and throttle position sensor and EGR valve. Test drive and retest. OK at this time.
Since getting the Excursion back, everything was fine. The only thing I noticed was that the injector cycle seemed different at key on. Instead of a strong firing of the injectors, it seem like more of a ramp up.
The FICM volts were good on the Edge Insight monitor...
Saturday I jumped in to start it up and it did the same thing as before the $3500 in repairs. Crank, no start.
It was flatbedded to my local Cincinnati Ford. Monday I get a call stating they charged the batteries (I told them they might be low after my repeated cranking attempts) and it started right up. No codes. WTH?
The 6.0L Excursion experiment is over. We're dumping it since our confidence is shot. It's too bad as it's everything we want in a tow vehicle (minus the problems, of course).
ok i read through this thread kind of fast, i could go on for about 3 paragraphs of what u need to do to make your X run like you know it should!! ive seen them tear up the road dont get rid of it !! look around youtube for videos . the dealers cant fix them rite most shops are lost about what to do with it they just hang parts and hope for the best . If your interested send me an Email i can have someone help you with information ! not trying to be a jerk im serious i have a group of people that really know thiese things a lot of the problems are minor but serious side affects
i thought i should mention thats normal dealer bill of between 3 and 5 thousand dollars . at my good mechanics shop is a 7.3 dually with 50k miles on it spent over 4000 dollars on "Fixing" it at the dealer and its still bad, the latest information i have is that the ficm flash they do ruins the performance and kills your milege , they did that 3 times ..... on my excursion they did they pulled the HPOP had it tested up over 4k pressure so it was fine replaced the ICP snd IPR with a EGR delete kit cleaned the manifold out ,one injector replaced and thats it ! that was going on a year ago and she still cranks rite along , after seeing what happens with proper parts and settings on the FICM and various other goodies you would not believe the power , performance ,and mileage you should get !!
