This is a list of all fuel additives that are registered with the EPA, Motorcraft cetane additives are made by gold eagle, and I believe Optilube is made by Lubrizol.
I had noticed that my truck was missing a little at idle. I was also having smoke during regen issues back in december. Ford dealer said normal. I was looking like a locomotive train for miles during regen.
I started using diesel kleen and the missing at idle stopped. The smoke during regen did not so I ended up deleting with a tuner.
Yes..... I'm thinking about adding it with every tank as well.
I wish the Power Service Additive came in like 16oz bottles so I could just buy a case and then I could drop in a bottle with a tank fill instead of having to measure it and use a funnel to get it in the tank.
Will have to research this a little bit more.
I found a very easy to way to measure it and keep it clean. A plastic baby bottle like this
They have fluid ounce measurements right on the side, you can cap them off with a good seal and keep the smell out of your truck(although mine stays in toolbox), you don't need a funnel with them and they are available at WM for $3 far a package of 3.
I've used Power Services Diesel Kleen in all of my diesels since '94. Grey bottle in summer and white bottle in the winter and it goes in every tank of fuel in my 6.4L.
wish I could take credit but I found that here on the forum lol!
Glad I found it here in the 6.4 section since I rarely venture outside of here...
Couldn't grab my credit card fast enough and ordered a gallon of Opti-Lube XPD! I've been using the Ford/Motorcraft Diesel Fuel Treatment RELIGIOUSLY since I bought my truck (brand new) so I'm looking forward to noticing any changes in mileage or oil analysis.
Only when I romp on it. I have an H&S mini maxx and I do the mild tune around 80hp.
Of course it will, you're causing it to overfuel by giving it more skinny pedal than the motor can use, and that extra fuel ends up as a cloud of black smoke coming outta your tailpipe...
Been using opti-lube xpd now for months in my 6.4, my 5.9 cummins and my 84 mercedes turbo diesel. Noticed a smoother running engine in all 3, with the Mercedes making the biggest difference. I did use the amsoil additive before and never noticed anything.

Well I've made the decision to use an additive everytime i put diesel in my truck.....from now on.
I've also decided to use the Opti-Lube XPD as well. Ordered from their website a gallon supply with pump and extra bottles. I will reorder before I run out and if I do then I will use the Diesel Kleen till it comes in if necessary.
Hey Tire Fryer......How much Opti-Lube do you use?...1/4oz or 1/2oz per gallon?
