Like someone said in here already, when doing the floor pans I’d stick to tacking the whole thing.
If all of this is overwhelming and you don’t mind it, you can always get a new cab. There always something near buy and if you’re near NJ I even have one available.

I guess there’s different gauges of metal like everything else, the ones I got from bronco graveyard are pretty sturdy. I don’t know how much thicker you can go without it not matching the cab thickness.... I’d rather have thinner metal than rust
I used some tabco floor pans for my 72. They were plenty thick although I did not measure them. I think if everybody chimed you would here plenty of different complaints. Ive done floor pans one time only and have not used or looked at any other pans.
