Hey
my friend is starting a project-to swap a 302 or 5.0 into a 240 volvo. we want to know a couple things about the 302 im not familiar with those engines at all.
1-what are the advantages of carbed and fuel injected as far as power goes we want the most power we can gets from the engine and still undecided as to wich one we want.
2 what year /style of engine would be the best? or is there a certain year of the 302 wich has the most reinforcments or is stronger
how much power can be squeezed out of these motors?
any help on choosing the best motor for the swap would be very much appreciated
thanks
Mario Brown
The strongest blocks were built between 1969 and 1974, then they started to slowly go down hill, as far a fuel injection vs carb, I will say this, The fuelies can run the most horsepower will staying steetable, but if you want extreme power for a drag car or even if you just want something easy to tune go with the carb

I recall reading somewhere that in the 90's mustang motors, they went to siamesed bores on the 302, making it stronger. They also come from the factory with forged or the hyperteutic pistons.
