When I start my truck in cold weather it seems like it smokes white for way too long. I know that they are supposed to for a little bit, but mine is for like 5-8 minutes and then it starts getting better. But then when I take off down the road it is just rolling out white smoke, and it will do this everytime I take off for a while. Does this mean I have some bad glowplugs? Or does this mean my injectors have seen better days? I would think injectors because this is happening well after the engine has started and is slightly warmed up. And it doesnt sound like it is missing any.
I think I would start with checking the fuel filter level after it sits all night. White smoke is unburned fuel, normal when you start them cold for a few minutes. Lot's of smoke to me says lots of fuel.... You might have a leaking injector or two that is just soaking the engine in fuel when it's sitting overnight.
5-20 degrees. Im thinking the injectors are leaking pretty bad. This would explain the white smoke when cold, and the black smoke under no accel when warm. And maybe this could be the cause of my horrible fuel mileage?
im getting about 30 seconds to 1 min of white smoke at the cold start in these temps.
i know a lot can be different.but hopefully my low millage rig can give some insight of how things should be when right.
iv got no signs of black smoke at any time either caleb.
I dont think mine is normal white smoke trails. Mine is like a cloud of white smoke on the first couple take offs. And idk ive never really paid attention to the smell lol. I will one of the next couple days.
How many miles on it? If you are experiencing bad mileage, your injector pop off pressure may be too low (worn out). You need high pressure to get the fuel to atomize properly so that it will burn completely.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> <o> </o>
