Back up sensor problem
Back up sensor problem
I'm new here and I've already received valuable info about my 06 6.0 truck.
I bought the truck with 130,000 miles and I'm going through the problems one by one.
When I bought the truck 3 weeks ago the back up sensor worked fine. Then one day shortly after, it has malfunctioned.
When I put the truck in reverse the sensor light on the button goes on disabling the sensors. I can't turn the light off by pushing the button. As long as the truck is in reverse the sensors are disabled.
But then when I put the truck in park or in drive then I have to push the button twice for the light to go out. Pushing it once does nothing, it stays lit. But as soon as I put it in reverse the light comes back on and I can't turn the light of until I take it back out of reverse.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Doane

Most likely one of the sensors in the bumper failed. When one goes it kills the whole system. You can take it to the dealer and they can hook it up and tell you exactly which one it is, but there is a "click test" that supposedly works. Here's the link, go to page 2 and scroll down to the last couple posts. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...ule-pam-2.html
Basically, turn the key to on, but don't start it, and put it in reverse and go to the back and listen for a click at each sensor. I've tried just listening and didn't have any luck but I think a mechanics stethescope may work better.
