I waited too long to change my oil cooler on my '03. I have been collecting parts since April to have my oil cooler and EGR cooler changed while we are on vacation the end of May. Friday I started to do the cooling system VC-9 flush and when I drained the radiator and degas bottle, there was oil in the coolant. So, I just covered all the openings and called a tow truck. My mechanic will have to flush the oil out after he changes the parts.
I saw my ECT/EOT temp spread getting wider but was hoping to make it to vacation, when I wouldn't need the truck. Running 65-70 mph with 4.10 gears on flat ground, my temps averaged 190/225.
I did buy a BPD EGR cooler and the Fumoto valves for the block drains. I asked him to do all the other little mods while he has access to the top of the motor and he recommends changing the ICP sensor, too. With 134K miles, I'm sure the turbo can use a good cleaning, also. I feel like I am saving some money on labor using this guy and his partner. They work on theses trucks every day. If they do a good job I won't mind recommending them. I'll update the thread when I return from vacation in June.
