Ok guys didn't notice till today. I think it has something to do with 1500 or so pounds of clay in my bed.
When you take off on a slight grade in second and have to ride the clutch just slightly it makes a squeal when the clutch is almost fully engaged. I have ceramic/Kevlar valair. It will also do it down shifting say from fifth to fourth around 60.
Would the weight in the bed be able to slightly bind the driveline enough to cause the clutch to do that or is just the extra weight causing the noise. I assume its the ceramic side making the noise.
To have a compersion it sounds like tire chirp during a quick shift.
It sounds a lot like the condition I am experiencing which I am thinking is the throwout bearing. From my understanding the throwouts are frequently going out on the Valair clutches. The clutches are beast, but I've heard of the throwouts going out in as little as 1k miles. A switch to a luk throwout fixes the problem. I know when my throwout gives or likely even this summer I am going to a smf with a new clutch.
Well I just out this throwout in less then a 1000 ago as the one I took out was in 2 pieces. May be the problem. It is the weirdest thing because I've never heard a clutch squeal and it doesn't have a slipping smell.
The ceramic has a distinct smell when it slips. My buddy had one in his dodge and it didn't live long behind it.
My find sounds kinda dumb but I thought my kevlar/ceramic was squealing too. Just driving around it was OK, boost it a little or pull the trailer (esp w/ex brake on) it would squeal, kinda like a brake squealer tab or dry bearing. Got to looking at it last night and actually it's the water pump, just put in back in Dec.
