I always removed the thermostat for the entire flush routine and when I had cleaners in it I would set to High Idel or 1100rpms and push maximum flow of cleaners threw it for 1 hour it cleaned it really good 4-6 flushes later and the water was as clean/clear going in and coming back out.

I tried to flush with thermostat in and it sucked the water never would flush clear

Sounds like you have cleaned pretty good and have been running a coolant filter for a few now thats how I did it too

I drove down the exact same roads as you VQT, in about the same heat, same time of year, pulling a trailer and I was getting 50+ degree spreads.

Mt egr cooler has been deleted and I had no trouble.

I have since replace the cooler and drove the same roads in the same heat pulling the same trailer with a 10 degree spread.

Bottom line is that if you still have that egr cooler, then you probably better get that oil cooler replaced.

You can see precisely what will cause a 50+ degree spread here. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...oler-pics.html

I think I did clean the engine block as much as I can also with the back flush of the oil cooler with your suggestion to stuff rags around the oil cooler cap to retrieve tool drop which was very good information.

not an expert here, just a newbie, with new parts. :-/

your numbers are worse than mine, the last 250 miles was
huntington beach to san bernadino to san diego, to huntington beach.

on a warm day.... i was running the defroster on high on the way home.
on level ground thru camp pendelton, it was sitting on 230 water and
245 oil.

it was 210/200 that morning..... 250 miles.....

july, vegas? do you have AAA premium with 200 miles free
towing? if you do, and your spouse has a card as well, you can put
200 miles on each of them for free....

... you might need to know this.....

you can't upgrade to it unless you have a certain amount of time with
no calls.... but if you are eligible for it, grab it. once you qualify for it,
they don't take it away.

the 200 i think is a one shot thing, or very rare, but you have 100
miles whenever you need it.

two ford owners having a chat: "so, who gives the best towing package?"

Did you have the EGR delete already at the time?
I don't think I want to gamble the other parts.

Has anyone ever used the datalogging feature on the SCT 3015 Tuner? Is it accurate? The readings that i'm getting would suggest otherwise. I'm showing ECT of around 192 and the EOT around 256 after 30 min of Interstate driving pulling a 2 horse trailer(unloaded). The guy that worked on my truck(ford tech that also works at his house) said it has the new software to detect a 15 deg difference but i'm not getting a cel or wrench light. Truck has egr sinister delete with A-1 Industries H11 studs, vc-9 flush and new oil cooler last August. What do you think?

Defuel? what does that mean and what does it cause? Sounds expensive. So do you think the SCT is reading correctly? Supposed to go on a riding trip 4 hrs from the house. Don't want any issues while traveling.

The PCM will defuel to Protect the engine from a Catastropic Failure its Hard to Notice the Defuel. Folks with a EGT Gauge report temp reduction in EGT at these points of Defuel and its Not like a Total Loss of power

I cant say you getting good temp reading or not

But If your temps are reading right and are that High it will be a Very Big Risk to pull a Horse Trailer 4hours away loaded with Horses. I guess you could saddle them and ride the horses if you got stranded LOL

this Could be cheap or expensive IDK if it gets Pushed Catastropic engine Failure can occur you also could just have a BAD Temp sender IDK

need to verify the temps are reading right
so to do this after a 12hour cold soak Check ECT & EOT & TFT & Ambeint temp all these temps should be very close to one another after the 12 hour time frame within 1-2 degress of each other

The Main thing here with your EOT so HIGH is that if it melts Oil Filter Standpipe your Moter will be Junk at that point. Im not shure what temp this happens IIRC its in the 300* range Im not shure though

IMO your at the temp range that it needs to be addressed ASAP its not something you really want to throw on the BackBurner
