F1 Vs F3 cab, what differences

Hi all, my F3 resto is coming along nicely but I'm at the point of ordering a heap of parts for the cab, rubber kits, repair sections etc.

Obviously the F3 has different mechanicals and bigger fenders but what else is different? Will a complete rubber kit for an F1 fit my F3? Will the rust repair sections for the back corners fit? A lot of catalogues list F1-F2 so I'm kinda assuming these would fit an F3 also.

Pics coming soon.

Those aren't my years but with the 53-56 the cabs are the same up till the F700s I believe.

I would be highly surprised if the F1 parts didn't work on an F3, but someone will chime along shortly that knows for sure.

I know the steering boxes, front axles, spindles are the same f1 through F3. so would have to assume the kingpins, bushings are the same as well.

so one could (if desired) take the hubs off an F-1 and put them on a F-3 axles.
Someone; Quick, call me a liar if I'm lying

F1-F3 front suspension is the same, except for the hubs, which have a different bolt pattern.

No. the number of springs varied between F1 and F3, so they would have different lengths. And the rear is, IIRC, a half inch bigger in diameter.

I was afraid that might be the case, think I'll have to get the U bolts made. Excuse my ignorance but what is IIRC?

Last question for the day (probably), does anyone know what size reamer I'll need for the kingpin bushings?

IIRC=If I Remember Correctly

Just look at getting U-bolts for a '57-72 F100 9" rear, and match them up with your currents, to see if they are the same.

For my F-250 rear U-bolts I just took the old ones to a place that had the equipment and they made me new ones in about 15 minutes. Call your local machine shop and they can tell you who can do it if they can't.
They couldn't make the front ones because they couldn't bend something quite that tight. Mid Fifty had those because they were the same as the F-100, she measured them while we were on the phone. If you have the old ones, you can call Classic Haulers and they will measure the F1 U-bolts they have to compare for you.
