I'm hoping that the bidders are as sharp as FTE members. As with anything on eBay, it doesn't matter what the seller says (New, Mint, Vintage, Antique, and the oh-so-popular RARE!!) - only what your eyes tell you.
Personally, I wouldn't buy it because to me, it's not driveable. It's a car show cruiser with no practical use. I sure wouldn't put anything in that bed, and would be terrified of getting it dirty.
But there are plenty of guys with big garages who would love a restored truck they can wipe down every day with a mink duster.
As my dad is fond of saying, "Anything is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it, and not a penny more."
Besides, at the rate I'm going, I'll clear the $10K mark with Festus before I'm done.

^ +1 on what he said. There have been numerous times when I've come across a very well-kept low mileage vehicle and have passed on it because its TOO nice. In my opinion, cars/trucks are meant to be driven. I'd be afraid of getting even a rock chip in this truck if I bought it! Let someone else have a trailer queen-but I'll take a nice driver any day.

The other half of the formula, and the most important part for me, is pride in ownership - doing the work myself, at least as much as I possibly can. It's not like buying a new truck. It seems to me that we all do this simply because we enjoy it.
"Say, Buford, how'd you get that 9.2 flux capacitor all cross multi-integrated like that? Looks real nice."
"Uuuuh,.... can't really say, the guy I bought it from did all the work."
If this managed to land in my driveway itd be lookin like any other truck on the road in a few months. I couldnt have a truck that nice hangin around and a truck that old without 20k in mods isnt worth more then 7 imo.
What kills me is, these are not collectors cars. Even fully restored they're value is fairly low. Maybe someday that will change but it hasn't yet. Spend $10k on it and if you total it you'll get what, $5k? Guess you couldd always try and get collectors insurance but don't know if it would qualify for it.

Sure you can. Of course, it cannot be a daily driver, and you must keep it garaged. There may be other restrictions depending on who you go with. My homeowners covers my truck until the motor goes in - then it's a vehicle, and I will have to insure it with a vehicle policy. The one quote I got a few months ago was $832 for full coverage and declared value of $30K. You just have to provide pics and receipts to show what you're insuring and that it is not totally outrageous, i.e. insuring a beat up wreck with no upgrades for $50K.
So you could insure it, but I have to agree, I would have reservations regarding that truck and would want to inspect it thoroughly before I dropped any coin on it.
