It's been painted, you can see the paint lines under the side moulding, and the painted over chips around the wheelwells. Still, it's a beautiful truck.
Just a side note, but is it wrong that I can look at the VIN and tell it was a 4.9 before I even read it or saw the picture?
I'm a dang six cylinder addict. Gotta send me to the nuthouse fellas...
On a side note... I'll believe it was a barn find. But like was said, the paint on the outside was at LEAST touched up.
Also, I can't remember if the Ford 4.9-300 was ever re-painted blue for 1984 +? I thought the only blue ones were the early models and that all the late 70s up to 96 were all painted gray? My 1983 was originally gray.
Also note that the air cleaner on the carburetor is gray on the bottom. This lends me to believe somebody pulled the motor apart, put it back together, and painted it Ford blue?
I did however like seeing the clutch sticker hanging on the shifter. Further support of the mechanical to hydraulic change in 1984.
I was wondering if anyone would notice the painted over chips. A couple dead give aways are the rear bumper is a few shades off, the ball has been sprayed over, and the grill emblem is new(different shade of blue on new emblems). Not original, but very nicely done none the less.
The seller wants a link to this thread to look over why we/you guys don't feel that this truck is all original, as he says it is.
You guys game with this?
Is there anything else you want to point out??
I say go for it. I'm mainly curious to see what others would point out.
I think the motor looks freshly painted. I'm also curious as to why it's Ford Blue and not Gray like the rest of the newer models. As I understand it, the older sixes were blue, but newer (at least 79 +) to my understanding should be gray. I'm not sure on this, but it's what I'm thinking. Someone correct me here.
How about every nut, bolt, and screw on the underside being painted chassis black? Brake line fittings and shocks included.
Look at the photo that shoots the rear spring. See where the rear fender brace bolts into one of the bed ribs? Look inside that rib and you can see where the undercoating/paint blew into it, but didn't cover completely. I wonder how much frame rust is being hidden this way.

I just went back and looked...
I also find it funny that he's removed photos of:
The truck sitting in a shop with the camper shell on it.
The picture of the truck and the shell.
And, the picture of the motor. Now all he has is the photo of the PCV valve, and the one photo that shows the bottom of the Ford Blue oil pan.
This fella seems kind of fishy...
EDIT:
The picture of the bed brace showing the rear spring... at the top right in the wheel well and above the frame, it kind of looks like a bed liner doesn't it?
I haven't seen any Ford truck from these years with anything like that.
Also, the spare tire has never been dropped? Yet there is a new tire on it?
EDIT AGAIN:
Looks like the photos of the motor are back.
UGH... LAST EDIT:
Looks like I had a "derp moment". He hasn't taken any of the photos down. The photos are in one of those inserts where you can scroll up and down.
Also, if it were me selling this truck for the amount he's asking for it, I would of paid for the Autocheck report and made it available to verify the mileage.

My 83 300 was painted blue from the factory, not much blue left on the valve cover though haha
That dealer sticker on the rear bumper has some spray issues on the right side of it.
No comment on the seller here- just noticing- a truck that seems pretty well optioned, carpet on the doors and floor, etc. Doesn't have a headliner. Yet my truck that barely has glass or tires had one. Must have been nice when you could buy a new truck and order anything you wanted.
