Is anyone else having problems with the 6-CD player? Ford says there are alot of problems with them and may even create some type of recall. I am just curious how Ford has treated others with this problem.
You'll find the answers to 99.9% of your questions here. The CD6 is one that has substantial coverage. Without describing the trouble your having, it's difficult to say if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.
I haven't heard anything from Ford on a recall, and I'm talking to my dealer weekly.
Try using the "Search" feature and looking for "CD6", CD player" or "Stereo", you should get lots of hits.
The radio shows BAD CD and tries to eject it but, it wont eject. Then the radio shows EJECT ERROR. You then cannot play any other CD or eject them. The radio still works. If you turn the truck off and back on the radio shows INITIALIZING. You can hear it trying to do something but nothing happens. I also did not care for the way Ford is handling it and was curious if anyone else was going through this and how Ford treated them.
Did you use a CD with a homemade label? Apparently they will jamb, and you'll need tweezers to get them out.
BUT your's should be under warranty. Tell 'em to fix it or replace it. Up here the dealer's use an exchange program. You make an appointment and a stereo tech simply swaps out the bad one for a new one...........no hassle!
If the guy you bought from won't fix it, try another dealer.
Hey Surf Fishn Truck...yes, I've had problems with the CD6...same trouble..it won't always eject the CDs. I do not use homemade CDs..it doesn't ALWAYS happen..but when it does, I have to gently..shall we say coax..the CDs out with a very small flat head screwdriver. I simply push on the CD as it's trying to eject or kind of push up on the CD to release it..and it comes out. I have been waiting for my first real problem with the truck to bring it in...but maybe it's time to just bring it in for that. I'll have the truck for 1 year next month..and the trouble started within the 1st month..so I've been living with it for a while. I'm hoping I won't have a problem getting it replaced. I've read that they are junk...and Ford did send out some correspondence some time ago reminding users what kind of CDs should be used. That tells me that there are a lot of complaints...it would be nice if they would just send out a notice or something promising a new CD6 player. I don't want them to repair it..I want a new one!!! Mine broke last week. First it would not load and then when decided to load the damn thing said it was bad and ejected. Problem is they are backordered in CA and i have to wait 10-14 days for a replacement. They also took my radio and gave me a loner with a tape deck. Lot of good that does me considering i do not own any tapes.
i finally got my issue fixed. let me bore you all with this outstanding ford moment. I am in Va. The dealer said they will send the radio down the road locally to see if they could fix it. If not they would ship the radio to New York for repair and they would mail my cd's back to Ford who would mail them to my house. They said they would put a refurbished radio in my truck and we were done. I explained to the dealer my truck was almost 2 months old and i wanted a new one in place of mine. The manager and i went round and round and finally he ended up taking the serial number off of my original radio contacted regional ford rep and has ford sending a replacement. until then the manager took a brand new 6 cd player out of a new vehicle on the lot to give me. when the replacement comes in the dealer will put it back in the vehicle they took it from. and when the original comes back send that back to ford. after 1 week of this joy ride i have only one question..........
does anyone think i will ever see my 6 cd's that are i n the original radio again???????
Hmm...Surf..good question. I guess it depends on what you were listening to. From previous posts elsewhere I would have to say that if you had any Dixie Chicks or Shania Twain CDs in the changer you will probably get those back...also if you had any RAP or other CRAP you can count on getting those back too.
Sounds like you made a good deal...I also don't want to accept anything less than a new unit..giving me one from an existing truck on the lot that hasn't been sold sounds like a good option.
