I unbolted it from the valve cover, turned it around with the hose toward the firewall and put a piece of pipe in the 90* hose, hooked another 3/4" hose to the pipe and ran it up and over the brake booster, down the back of the inner fender and down the frame rail to the front of the fuel tank.

Flip the dog house around 180 degrees and then run the hose up over the brake booster and then down. I attached a garden hose to it and ran it back on the frame far enough so I would not smell it.

Your to fast Bill. I didn't run mine down that far but what the heck, why not? The reason for up and over the brake booster is so oil will run back into the motor and not all over your driveway.

has anyone built a catch can like on 6.4 so the oil just goes back into the valve cover and not out the back

what do you think of putting a fitting in the exhaust towards the back so the pipe is some what cool and hook it to it so it just mixes with the exhaust gas going out, could use copper tube from the exaust at about mid point and about 2 or 3 feet of copper tube so the rubber wont melt but still run it over the brake booster

I guess it would be worth a try. But if you put a fitting in the exhaust, it should be at about a 45* angle pointing the way the exhaust flows, so the exhaust flowing by would create a suction on the fitting versus putting it straight in the side and the exhaust trying to blow back up the fitting.

yea thats what i was thinking could weld a pipe fitting in the pipe at about a 45 and then use a compression fitting for the pipe and pipe thread on the other side to thread into that, i think i am going to try that cause it is putting a bunch of oil threw the turbo and going to try and come up with something to work like a catch can thinking a soup can with some baffles in it so the oil hits it and does not go air born and fly right threw it will let you guys know how it works

With the catch can your talking about, do you think you would still need to tap it into your exhaust?

I dont really mind the smell, but either way i have read somewhere about people running it into the exhaust. Your idea sounds fine though.

I ran a hose all the way to the rear bumper on my 97, then made a small angle cut pipe for it, looked like a tiny exhaust pipe it was cool for awhile, and it got lots of looks. Then one day my truck startes puking oil out the exhaust, turns out condensation froze in the line and stopped it up, no good.....keep the line as short as possible and straight down if it freezes where you live. On both my 96's it comes out right the cab mount under the drivers floor and I rarely smell it. I like the smell of rotella anyway so it doesn't bother me.

Look here for pics of the old ccv on the 97.

Here is a link to a very simple CCV mod I did awhile back, it works for me. I haven' noticed much blow by or oil coming from the tube or smell.

I forgot to mention when I did mine I removed everything on the intake, the aluminum housing and all, therefore I didn't need to turn the housing on the valve cover around. I just made a loop with the ccv hose and headed towards the back of the truck.
