I know for sure it needs to meet ASTM D 4985, other than that I am unsure if there are any other specs green needs to meet. Always a good idea to throw some SCAs in with the green coolant. Fleetguard DCA4 is the same thing as the MC additive, NAPA also have them too.

Cheap stuff from Wal-mart, Pre-mixed 50/50... Works great.

Throw some Fw16 in there or have a coolant filter with the aditive and your set.

If you're gonna wait on the ELC, I'd opt for the Zerex G-05 "gold" coolant over the traditional "green" coolant.

Are you talking about the Supertech brand stuff? Just don't want to use the wrong stuff. Ya I also bought the parts from Carquest to make the filter setup with the pre charged filters.

Yeah Super Tech green meets Ford ESE-M97B44-A, run that and 2 quarts of SCAs or an pre-charged filter and your in business. IMHO I would get the concentrate, blue bottle of super tech IIRC, and cut it with distilled water. A little cheaper and you can get a more exact mix.

CAT ELC is $19 a gallon for concentrate. $80 and you don't spend anymore on coolant for a ton of miles (500,000). A win-win for you and that expensive engine.

Just a thought........

Unless I am covering 100k miles a year I would NEVER run any coolant for more than 6-8 years.

Look right from Cat (page 2)...

http://www.hastingsdeering.com.au/ho...EHJ0067-02.pdf

The recommended interval is 600k miles or 6 years, whichever comes first. Personally I will hit 6 years long before I come anywhere near close to 600k miles. We need to remember this coolant was designed with OTR truckers who cover 100k a year in mind, not pick ups that cover 5-50k.
