I have not had good luck with Rain-X on any of my vehicles. It creates a film on the windshield that makes it almost impossible to see at night when meeting other cars.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but that has been my experience.

You have to make sure that the windshield is clean before you apply Rain-X. Then you have to let it dry to a haze before buffing it off. It has always worked well for me.
One thing I found on my 53 was to make sure the wiper blade is square with the glass. You might have to twist the arm some to make it so, but it definitely helps
