In the district I work we've had 4 tailgates stolen in 2 months. The scrap dealers give $20 for the metal, and they resell it for $350 - $400. Three were Chevy's and one was a Ford. Chevy's must be easier to get off. The best thing is to keep your tailgate locked at all times!

Going to pick up a tailgate today. Guy has a black one for sale on craiglist off an xlt model for $325. I just have to switch over my handle/lock and camera. Hopefully its the tuxedo black or I will have to get my step dad to paint it.
