Scored a step tailgate
Got lucky yesterday traded my regular tailgate on the 2012 with a guy that had a step tailgate on his truck, both tailgates are white so it was an easy swap. 
Man I like getting into the back of the truck with the step. I do have the cap on the truck and it closes a little tighter so I guess I'll have to change the bottom of the seal to fit better.

Lucky! I miss mine for sure. 08 had it, 11 doesn't...Its the next upgrade without a doubt. The new running boards were a higher priority to replace the rotted 3 year old boards. There is a place online which sells paint matched shells for 600ish. Thats the route Im going. I have a damaged lift gate with all of the parts except for the top plastic pieces which are broken. I bought one off line and FedEx dropped it out of their 747 at 35000 feet. There isnt a square inch on it thats not dented. Had to fight to get my money back. So Im close to once again having the step! The yards and take-off houses are out of their minds with prices for new T/Os. $1500-2K!

No he just wanted a reg tailgate, the original I had Line X bed liner on it. I made a copy of the key so It can be locked.

Looks good. Go can also take the lock tumbler to a lock smith and have it keyed to match your factory key.

How lucky was that deal, maybe you should capitalize on your luck and get a lotto ticket! I have the step gate on my new truck, it is nice however it does make the tailgate heavier. My wife opened the gate and it slipped out of her hands. I just installed a Dee Zee Tailgate assist incase that happens again.
