Got a 2015 Chevy for a rental after my truck was totaled. Told my wife it was just wrong having a bow tie under the carport. But anyway I had to admit the tailgate was pretty sweet. I'll explain: when you open up the gate 2or3 inches and just let it go it has a spring, shock or something that just lets it ease down. I want this for my 03. Anyway to do it? Does the new ford trucks have this to?
I bought one from Amazon for my last truck which was a 2012 Chevy Silverado that was the same brand as what Binuya posted the link for. It was super easy to install. I would definitely buy one for my F350
A friend of mine showed me the Dee Zee assist on his F150, I knew I had to have one! It just makes life easy, my girlfriend is now not frightened to open the tailgate & if you've got your hands full you just have to operate the release & let it drop (smoothly!) No need to buy a Chevy!!!!
WTF lets their gate slam, anyhow! 20yrs of owning trucks, have i not been able to just "eeeeeeeaaaaaazzzzeee' the gate down with my hand. Heck, you gotta open ur right. Now, the incorporated step in the corners of the bumpers, on the new chevys, is a cool idea., so is the assist bar and drop down step on fords' gates..
I believe all the new Ford gates have the assist, may be started in '08 (I'm looking at a '15 gate for my '99)
I also thought about seeing in the Chevy bumper would fit-I have a friend who has a '14 Silverado with that bumper with the steps on each side.....its pretty neat!!
'08 to present tailgates DO fit '99 to '07 trucks, you just have to replace one hinge on the lower left with the '08 up piece, this is done all the time.
