Thanks. It's got a few dents and scratches, one on the lower rear right quarter panel and one on the the front on the driver's side of the hood just above the light, it's been used for work before, and the tail gate plastic strip is missing, but all small cosmetic concerns which can be addressed for minor amounts of money. And that's if I really care enough about it to get them fixed. d
I did take it on the freeway on cruise control. At 65 it felt like I was doing 35. I like that, sits up nice and high, drives like a tank.
All in all and for a work truck, I'm good with it.
Thanks everyone, I feel a bit better about the decision. It's definitely mine this weekend, seller is holding onto it for me.
My company in Dallas, I'm in Houston, is depositing the money into my account for the truck this week, which I find quite nice of them to do!
That is a good looking truck and all, but i know people who have had problems with the heads on those, and they just seem to loose their guts a lot sooner than the diesel. That is a good price, and a good looking truck though, just something to think about.

Thanks for the head up. I'll make sure to pamper her as best I can.
Btw, this will be my first 250. I'm pretty stoked with it!
It should do you nicely. As for gains in mpg. They seem to be like big foot. People make claims but seldom have any solid proof. Best I can tell do the maintence and drive it right. Normally you can have power and mpg but not at the same time.
Great looking truck and sounds like a good deal - be sure to post more pics when you get it. As for mileage - it depends if you can stand to drive slower. Tht truck in my sig gets about 12-14 on the highway cruising at 70+, lower the speed down to 60 and the mpgs jump to 15-16. I just can't stand driving that slow on the highway though. In your case, running between Dallas and Houston you'd probably get run over driving that slow.
If you do not know when the last time the spark plugs were changed on your new 5.4l I would have them changed. The 05' to early 08' 3V modulars had the long plugs that are known to break off in the head when you try to remove them. Its good to change them regularly (like every 50k-70k) to get the best performance and fuel economy and to help reduce the chance of plug breakage during the next plug change.
I was told by the seller of the 5.4 that there is a chip of some sort to improve fuel economy I can put in. Is that not correct?
Yes and no. Some sub 1mpg gains with premium fuel is possible but usually fuel mileage doesn't change much. If you want to try and squeeze more mpg out with a tuner your best bet is probably an SCT X3 from 5 Star tuning with custom economy tunes.

Head leakage issues and thread count in heads should have been fixed by then. I think there were cam phaser and 2 piece spark plug problems on those 3 valve engines. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Here are a few more pics. Interior is close to immaculate as well is under the truck. I expect I'll eventually buy a 40/60 cloth bench seat from a junk yard.
And the dent.
I will be straightening out the tail gate and and putting a strip as soon as I can as well as removing the rack and installing a diamond plated cross and matching side tool boxes.
Alright, I'm going to check this truck out today, just to know what the diesel is like and to see if it changes my mind. It seems like a good deal for a diesel. Seller is the second owner, had it since '03. Says it is in immaculate condition, for a '99. Only has 174k miles, new clutch.
No leaks, no stalls, all truck.
Well, power is going to be better, a excab is going to be nice trust me. It will give you a place for your tools and make your life a lot better. I also do hvac work and the 2 best trucks I ever had were a 02 cc f350 4x4 with a service bed and a 92 chevy excab 4x4 with a service bed. The chevy was a pita to get stuff in and out of the back seat but man I could keep my power tools in their bags and together in those trucks. The f350 was awesome because It gave a me a service bed for parts and a back seat for practically everything else. Btw no matter what superduty you get be vigilant and get a alarm, keyless entry and get rid of the door lock on the out side. it literally takes 10-15 seconds for them to get past those door locks. Other trucks are better but only by a few seconds. So be aware. I had my personal truck broken into a year or so ago and it took me a week or so before I even realized that it had been hit. The guy went thru everyting and didn't tear the truck apart so it wasn't obvious to me except one night I was eating with my wife when I noticed the door handle looked like it was sticking out a little bit.
