2002, F-550, 7.3. Have owned this truck for about 5 years, always has been hard to start especially if sits for more than 2 weeks which it usually does, only driven 1-2k miles each year. Starting in December would start but could not speed up engine for more than about 15 seconds. Would have to keep pressing accelerator further until would start to die, release pedal and would gallop a bit then settle into normal idle. Checked and replaced the fuel filter and checked the air path, no improvement. A couple of weeks ago tried to start and move the truck. Started, ran for about 15 seconds and died. Have not been able to get it started since. Any ideas as to the problem would be appreciated. Otherwise it looks like will be going to local Ford dealer again....this time by tow truck.
How old is the oil? Does the oil psi gauge come up right away? how old are the batteries, cranking volts? Some things to check. Also oil in the hpop resi.
Last oil change in fall of 2010, has approx. 1200 miles since then. Both batteries are less than 2 years old, cranks good and fast. Oil pressure has always come up immediately after start.

Do you use 20% veggie or higher concentration? If this were a gasser, I'd say bad fuel - but I don't know how long oil lasts while just sitting. Synthetic or dead dinos?
