97 psd wont start after warm
97 psd 314000 miles starts when cold perfectly, will fun forever if i shut it down, it wont start again until it cools for eight hours, oil is fresh high pressure pump replaced yesterday, very dissapointed, same problem, obviously there was nothing wrong with the pump, curious! a mechanic checked the pressure when hot said it was to low to fire the injectors, just started o minute ago, as long as i run it for only 20 or 30 seconds at a time i can start it up all day long, this old truck keeps my family fed, ive got to fix it iam hoping to find someone who had this exact problem

i had the opposite problem. truck started when warm wouldn't start cold. had a bunch of weak injectors. take it to a ford dealer and have them throw the computer on it, and get a baseline on your problem. my dad is a service manager at a local ford dealer, and fords network of technical support with-in itself online is phenominal. techs all over the u.s. comminucate with each other with their problems and ford motor co. itself has great tech support., and chances are someone else somewhere has had your problem. it's worth the $$ spent in my eyes rather than guessing. pete

yeah i should have included that info. they did more than just hook their "diag machine" up they have a procedures they go threw to properly diagnose, and eliminate some problems. process of eliminating what's not wrong, til problem is found. i'd do it myself but i just, time is not on my side so that's why is goes to the dealer where my dad works, they take good care of me. pete

NO START OR HARD START HOT
1. IPR (Injection Pressure Regulator) bad, will cause low ICP
2. IPR o-rings bad, will cause low ICP
3. Injector o-rings bad, will cause low ICP. Should also show up as black fuel (from oil in fuel) in filter canister.
4. High pressure oil pump bad, will show up as low ICP
5. Engine oil worn out or too thin
6. Cranking speed too slow, should be 180 rpm minimum when warm
My vote is for #2 unless the fuel filter shows oil in it ...
