Here is some of what I have been up to . Replaced pitman arm and joined T5 to engine . Now I can figure out how I am going to build a transmission mount.drive shaft, pinion seal, remove front end sheet metal,etc.etc.etc.
Now see.... if you talk me into keeping it, you won't get a free exhaust manifold...
Oh i just have this 'thing' about the nice low rumble of a V8.... kinda like a junkie on a coke farm. And nothing produces a sweet low rumble any better than an old Flathead with dual 2" straight pipes at idle.
That T5 came out of a 1989 C#$%y S10 , Adapter kit from Speedway . You just have to make up a little clip to hook the throwout bearing return spring onto . Cost of swap. Tranny $180.00,Adapter $352.00 Including shipping and brokerage , Donor driveshaft (for slip yolk)$30.00 , 9 inch S10 clutch disc $58.00
I just finished the T-5 swap in my truck. I cut the center out of the old x member and made a new one from 2x4 box tube (bolt in). I also had to brace up the old one where the brake and clutch pedals mount.
I could not use a stock S-10 clutch disk as the center springs hit the crank bolts. I had to buy the disk made specially for this swap
Have not worked out all the fine technical engineering type details yet but I am sure now after input on another thread from Ross and Havi that the only alteration will be a trany mount extending back from the existing x member .

Rowing gears through a modern 5speed behind a flathead for around $600? Seems like a no-brainer to me. Every swap has it snags... hell it seems everything I do has snags.
