My filler tube is ‘like new’, there is no way this thing is blocked and I cannot get the air to go into the jug. As posted above, I need to squeeze the jug, when I can no longer squeeze the thing I need to back it out a bit and let air back into the jug. Maybe I’m doing something wrong but following this process I can get 2 jugs into the tank when I get the 500 mile warning.
I have had this problem many times. I have the Ford DEF tube and cut some of the vent hose off. Also you have to find the sweet spot where the vent hose that comes out of the filler tube.. I have had jugs just flow so nice than others you have to squeeze them. It's a process but love the Ford tube. It locks in the hole so you don't spill the crap everywhere.
I as well like that the tube "locks in place". I just don't get this entire system. It is the single biggest PIA of owning this truck. Thankfully we only have to deal with every 7,000 miles or so. No gauge and you have to wrestle with adding the stuff. I read a post someplace comparing it to when the catalytic converters 1st came out on gassers, how they smelled like rotten eggs, killed performance lowered gas mileage, had a high failure rate and cost a ton of money to replace. We have the 1st gen of this system which over time will become a "no brainer" just like the catalytic converters on gassers are. I guess there are improvements in the '17 - '19 models.
Chevy has the DEF filler under the hood. How easy to fill would that be LOL
I buy my DEF at the pumps of my local fuel station. When a GM pulls up, he has to position his truck twice - once for fuel, and again for DEF. When filling his DEF, he has to pull the DEF hose across his fender to reach the fill. Additionally, his DEF fill is on the opposite side of the truck than his fuel fill, so the DEF hose has to stretch all the way across his engine bay, or he has to move his truck to an adjacent island. I like our way better.
