Question CHROME DECORATIVE NUT COVERS ?

Has anybody had any experience with the chrome Acorn nut covers from Macs ? The one's I purchased for my Head nuts (11/16") fit down right sloppy . First experience with these , I thought they were sort of a press fit . Any suggestions or words of wisdom ?

No experience with covers on head bolts but some over the road trucks use a similar decorative cover on lug nuts. I replaced a couple on my motorhome and had to curl the edge a slight bit to retain them well. You could not see the curl but I knew it was there. They stayed on.

Does your engine have studs or bolts? My understanding has always been that they have something to retain them, either concave flats or some kind of flat spring

Studs not bolts because of aluminium heads . No noticeable concave , they fall right on . I may try to rig something to squash them a bit . Thanks for the idea Ross .

Yep, that will work too. Mine had enough paint on the bolt heads so most had to be hammered on with a mallet. The really loose ones I just squeezed down a bit with pliers.

I've always heard that they were a hit-and-miss kind of fit. And you should always keep a few spares around just because you never know when you'll pop the hood and find one missing. Still, they look cool and I want some.

No need, I had that taken care of after the third child.

The Family Jewels are turned to Cubic Zirconium.

I wouldn't take a trillion (the new million) for the kids I've got,but I wouldn't give you a plug nickle for another one.

I am however, looking forward to grandchildren.I can get back at their parents through them.
