Texas doen not look kindly on commision of a felony of property. We have laws that no retreat is required when on personl property or on property under personal contoll. Those laws include not only a home but extensions there of like cars, boats, etc.
in 99% of the cases an employer can nolonger prevent you have a wepon in your at your place of emploment either.
So true Cheezit...My truck got broken into at the Candlewood Suites in Garland on New Years Eve years back...the got most all my tools, about $2K in Fluke test equipment, but left a $4K High Potentiometer Tester (Insulation Tester for heavy electrical motors and generators)...guess they didn't know what it was or was spooked. Told the investigating cop that I was going to get a CHL...he said "what for?...you have the right to protect your property and if the gun isn't registered (was my late step fathers), don't do it, they'll just know where to pick it up if they pass gun laws"...I was under the impression it was just home related...didn't know it included PERSONAL PROPERTY
gun registion laws here are for the people as well. we really dont have that as an issue and ftf sales are common and legal. possion is pretty much good enugh as long as its not reported stolen.
Just seeing a loaded gun worries me, let alone if I was stealing something then having someone point a loaded gun at me is enough for me to never even think about stealing, my parents taught me from day one if I wanted something I'd have to work for it and earn it.
I think every state should be like Texas.
There was a story on the news around here not to long ago, a lady home was home with her baby, she had a loaded gun when 2 guys broke into her house...she called 911 and asked if it was okay to shoot them if they came in...the dispatcher said do whatever you have to do to protect yourself and your baby....
Well they came in she shot and killed one of them...and the other lived and HE is being charged for murder. Kinda ironic.
Glad I live in a small town in Alabama. Not much crime here. But Alabama law is kinda like texas. I can defend my property against theft with any means I have to. I do have a concealed carry permit. An I do own SEVERAL guns. BB gun up to AR-15.
If I EVER catch someone stealing ANYTHING of mine they will be confronted with a loaded GLOCK 40 cal with a 22 round clip in it or a AR-15. An living in the country an hunting all my life an having been in the US Marine Corps. If I point a gun at you, I have EVERY intention on using it.
Now, when it comes to defending myself an my family. I will shoot ANYONE who threats my family. An I WILL NOT shoot to wound. I have about 14 guns an alot of ammo. I'm not some one of those crazy worlds coming to a end you better stock up now people.
Y'all will have to please excuse my rant. I have very strong views on my gun rights an on my right to defend myself, my family an my property against ANYONE who tries to harm or take anything I have worked very hard to get in my life.
could be worse, my truck got broke into at my work on my birthday and i was on overtime. the security guard had planed the whole thing. took the radio and they got 6 others why they were there.
as for gun laws i have been following those laws for a while and as a conceled licence holder, in 2013 the senate is voting on texas to drop the conceled from the licence to just a handgun licence so that means OPEN CARRY!!!!
I believe in Texas you dont have to have a permit to carry, only have a permit if you get caught, but I could be wrong.
you dont need a permit to carry in your car
as for defending your property, the instructor told us that you better let them take it before you shoot them or else they can sue you or you can could go to jail for shooting them. thats why you have insurance he said. i will say this because of those "THUGS" you speak of, soon i will get my type 2 weapon permit and then i will get my full auto silenced glock ok not because of the thugs but i mean i have the right to bear arms right?
