Ya that doesnt make any sense.. unless theyre over complicating things... like people who say a 4 speed is a 3 speed because first is Low...

Back in the 70s and maybe 80s they did put 4spd OD trans in pickups, i believe they were only in half tons. Drove one once... talk about horrendous gear spacing.

That's a 5speed. They probably got hung up on the way Ford labeled 5th as OD.

thats the most popular way to solve the E40D's issues.it's way cheaper, though generally not so extreme lol.nice deal!
sadly,your E40D is just good for a core,in it's current undiagnosed state.
not to worry though, you made out like a thief anyway.just hope you don't end up in jail now.

now you just have one problem.......what would it have cost in the end to find out why the tccs wouldn't lock the converter up in the truck, even though it checked out good while out.........
ah well, for the $ on the ZF, i wouldn't loose too much sleep over it.
happy shifting!

He didnt jave a ds, i will have to source one probably.
as for
My auto, its actually in good shape, when i put the solenoid pack back in and took it for a spin everything was going great! Tc locked up, stayed locked on decel down a hill, but mu worst fear was confirmed, i was driving it hard and the tc started slipping very soon after i started driving. When ur easy on her it would take a little while for it to slip.
Internal leakage of the converter

Do you know of the current ds has enough rangle on the slip yoke to accomodate the extra needed length?

When I did my swap I was 4x4 and I think there was enough splines to get by...but just barely...maybe an inch or 2" of engagement....I didn't try it. Here are some pics with lengths...

Front drive shaft to show how long e4od is compared to zf5

Here is how the much room the splines have

I'd just get the right shafts or get it made
