Thanks

I just wanted to say thank you to all of the regulars here. I acquired my 86 f150 back in the late fall. I hang around here and have figured out alot of stuff just by reading posts already here.

Right now, I am in the process of rebuilding the engine in my (wife's) 4runner. When that is done, the collection of parts I have acquired will be installed on the 4.9 in my 86. It's leaking oil a good bit, from several different places. I'm gonna start with the standard stuff- v/cover, lifter cover, front timing cover, possibly oil pan and/or rear main seal. I've also got a water pump (it's loose and noisy) and a new fan clutch (it appears to be stuck on, at least most of the time.)

Besides this forum, I have been hanging out in the inline 6 section as well.

I've learned alot already. If I could get this thing to not leak so much, I wouldn't mind driving it. It is a little embarassing to see the "map of Italy" the truck leaves on the ground. I just keep telling them "It piddles on the floor when it gets nervous".

No real questions tonight, just wanted to say thanks.

Yes, thanks for the note. Good to know that others are finding help from what we do, even though they haven't asked the question themselves. Pretty soon you'll be answering the questions.

Great to hear you're getting a lot out of the forum. I don't see you posting a lot of questions, so that tells me you'e doing some research and finding the answers yourself

I think If I were looking to do all those things you have listed, I would consider just pulling the engine and getting it on a stand. Individually, all those are not mountains to climb...but if you're going to do it all at once, then having it on a stand would sure make it all a lot easier. I bet it would be quicker in the long run as well.

Then you could take some time to clean it all up, do some compression test and maybe even through a new coat of paint on it while your at it.

Just something to consider.

Glad we could be of help, Adam. I still end up asking a lot of questions but I've learned so much here myself.

Thought about pulling it out. Still might. The 4 speed manual is also leaking from towards the back. A guy on cl has a newer 300 with a serp belt on it. Was thinking about seeing how much for the whole thing.

I don't know if I'd be answering them, but I belong to enough forums to know that if I'm having an issue, someone else already has come up with a solution. Search feature is really nice.

Lot of good things being pointed out in here. There's a great knowledge base from the past (about 8 years it seems) via search. Also, there's a core group of good guys here, providing that invaluable interacting and education.

And yep, thanks for searching too.

When are we seeing some pics of this boy you've had so long?
