On the 6.4, less intake restriction = less turbo "bark" or fluctuations, whatever you want to call it.
I know this because when my AFE intake boot disintegrated, the turbo was directly open to atmosphere, and it didn't make those sounds as it did with the stock air intake.
That makes sense on my rig. I didn't notice it until I opened my my exhaust flow by replacing the downpipe. Now my S&B intake isn't keeping up.
Does anyone have any pictures of what it would look like if you had a cracked down pipe? I know to look for soot on the fire wall, mine has black on it but it looks like its from heat not soot. Do you get a smell in cab with this ?

You would if you didn't have your AC on Max.
The factory downpipe is double walled to handle/insulate from the heat of regen. Its unlikely to crack one.
If its cracked, you could easily see smoke from underneath if you had someone hit the accelerator as that exhaust is not passing through the DPF.
