Hay everyone
Have 2 questions about the A/C
1-- I have a electric pistion on the idle side that's there to push out and keep idle at 900 or so for the A/C to run and not lug the engine etc. need to know were it hooks into since i can not find a wire for it - tried it hooked into the A/C wire but plunger went out to far and RPMs up to far even after adj. it back in bracket.
2 -- The dash controller for the A/C the one on the bottom with all the vac ports also has the electric switch that when you put lever to A/C sends signal to engage compressor and thus cold air. ( was told buy mech. when he bypassed switch and got it to run ) no elec thru the controller--- were can i get a new old one... lol
need help with both now !!!! temp getting hot
Here is a link to a wiring diagram that should get you on the right path. 1978 was no complete but the 79 has a Red wire with yellow stripe to the kicker switch ? Diagram 3 for the 1979.
shop said i had power up to controller in cab that switches from vent to a/c and defrost etc. were is that switch located since all i can find is a 3 prong male plug ( has two copper fingers from it that ride on the plastic circle as you move the controls from vent to a/c etc) thats part of the big vac hook up on base of the dash controller
bummer was hopeful you new were the compressor switch was located - shorter fishing trip lol
thanks for the wiring diagrams should help with power to sol.
Back in the day, I used an under-dash rocker to manually energize the compressor. Very ghetto, I know, but it worked. Of course, I'd never do that now...
