Seats

Hey, guys... gonna be looking into getting my seats redone eventually. I have a '99 and these trucks have that older seat design and according to Ford, I can't get parts for these seats anymore. '00 had them too, but I think they did away with them in '01. The cushions on my seats are shot... yeah, I know they can be fixed, but I drive alot of miles and I want something lasting. So, I'm gonna look into getting some later seats, hopefully with heat! I know there are two styles, one where the seat belts were attached to the cab, and one where the seat belts are part of the seat. Which are more comfortable to you guys? I'm pretty short (5' 6") and some of the seats hurt me because the arch in the seat backs are higher up for taller people. How about some other alternatives for seats? I don't like wild looks, I prefer to keep things looking clean. I don't mind anything that's not original as long as it can be kept subtle and still look like it belongs. Thanks, guys!

I was able to find an entire interior with leather bucket seats out of an F650. My truck was a base model with the vinyl bench seats. Best upgrade I've done to my truck. Most newer model seats sould bolt up, but you will have to do some wiring if you get power or heated seats.

My truck is a Lariat so the seats are power and leather, just a matter of splicing the power for the heaters as well... what year of truck did your seats come out of?

It was a later model, 05 or 06 if I remember correctly. Everything fit right in. I had to do some pretty extensive wiring since my truck is an XL. I was able to find a fuse box at a junk yard to rob the connectors from. I used the connectors and a wiring diagram from FTE to get everything fused at the correct location in the fusebox. Lots of great info here.

BTW, you may get more response over in the superduty forum.

I actually started a duplicate thread over there... I know it all bolts up, only wiring I may have to do is if the passenger's seat has power and if either are heated. I was just curious as to which style folks find to be more comfortable. I'm going to be moving to KS and that 1500 mile drive is hard on the tail. Plus I'm also short so the typical arches in alot of the seat backs usually cut me in the wrong spot.

Mine are the high back buckets without the belt made into the seat back. They also have adjustable lumbar with a wheel in the seat base. They are very comfortable to me, especially compared to the bench. These may be the same as the ones you already have since yours is a Lariat. Good luck.

Isn't the seat belt in the seat back on all xtra-cab seats, but on the b-pillar for regular and crew cabs?? I'm not that familiar w/xtra-cabs.

I've seen lots of F250/350 interiors in TX for some reason... Search CL in Houston or Dallas and see what I mean.

I got these for my dually last summer. Recovered/customized Lariat seats. My XLT cloth wasn't bad for 330k miles, and since I drove it the last 200+k miles the butt-grove was MINE - but these are nicer and way easier to clean up!

Man those look nice! I seriously would've just gotten mine recovered if I could still get the cushions... the cushions on the driver's seat are so bad that I wouldn't wanna repair them even if I could. But no, belts on the seats aren't just a SC thing. Mine is a SC and has the belts on the wall.

Go find you a local custom seat shop. If you can't find one, find a body shop that does custom work on cars. They will give you better foam than the factory. I replaced the foam in my seats with new foam from Ford once. It didn't last long. A local seat shop can do a much better job with the foam (and cover too).

For the heated part, I've been using this for years.

Really? I always thought they just "fixed" the existing cushion... I wouldn't mind keeping mine if I could just make it comfortable.

If they just fix it, then they just fix it right. It has to do with either replacing the foam, or adding to it to make it feel right. And when I say feel right, I mean it feels really good.

My wife had hers done not long ago and after sitting in her truck I'm going to take mine it to get me seats some freshening up. We picked up an Excursion with aftermarket seats recently and those seats are way better than mine too. I really need to make the time to go see those guys.

By the way, when they did my wife's seats, they installed the heated seat I linked above and just left the wires loose below the seat for me to hook up. No extra charge since I provided the parts and they didn't have to do any wiring.

Well shucks, maybe I'll have to give it a shot. Gonna be alot of money to get another set of seats and there's no telling how long they'd last. Thanks for the info... I'll have to give it a shot. All I know is I'm gonna have to do something.

The seats with the integrated seatbelts are for SuperCab models because there isn't a permanent mount point for the upper pivot.

Look for Excursion seats too. They tended to have more options since they were the massive family wagon, so it'll be easier to get a set with power/heat. They all will have the armrests but if you have a 40/20/40 seat then you just remove the armrests and call it a day.

Nxy, my SC has the belts attached to the roof of the cab, not my seat... I can post pictures if you want. But I can see where they changed later on. But I do hear you on the EX seats. They do have more options.
