P1335 & P0404 Codes

P1335 & P0404 Codes
2004 6.0L Excursion 82K. Over the weekend the check engine light came on. I pulled a P1335 Code (Position sensor min stop performance) code with SGII, so i cleaned egr valve. It was sooted but not wet or gummy. Intake looked a little sooted and was dry. I cleared the P1335 Then it threw a P0404 (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Egr open code). Truck runs great. My question is does the truck need to cycle a few times for the check engine to go off?
