periodic small surges while driving & accelerating
Mechanic told me I needed an EGR valve and it was running rough mostly at idle. So I replaced it. It still ran rough but the idle was rougher. I had code 33 so we replaced the EGR sensor. Now it has periodically at least 2 times daily small multiple surges in a row almost not detectable 
. Now I have code 334.

You can't get both 2-digit and 3-digit codes out of the same truck. They use one or the other, and your truck should use the 3-digit codes.
You could have gotten a bad EGR valve. Sometimes they leak past the pintle, even brand new. What brand of EGR valve did you get?

They are napa auto parts brand. The code 33 is what the mechanic said and I ran my codes this morning as I am tired of it running rough at idle. So I know that now it is code 334. So is there a way to test the EGR valve? Or could the EGR sensor be what is bad.
