So it happened about a month ago. My CEL light came on and before i could take it into the dealership to have it checked, it turned off. Although the code was stored in memory my advisor told me nothing could be done warrenty wise until the light came back on. So once the light came back on i managed to get the truck down there and sure enough, it was a P0401 and P2457 both relating to my dreaded EGR valve.
By the end of it it turned out that i needed a totally new EGR Valve (as the left bank was completely blocked out) and new bypass valve and a totally new EGR Cooler well.
Im just so sad that this has happened. I mean i make it a habbit of opening it up when i drive it, like my advisor has recomended, idel as low as possible, and im a stickler for checing my operating hour/idel hour timer. I just can see how this is happening. Has anybody else come across this problem?
6.7L engines are equipped with an EGR cooler bypass valve, so IN THEORY there should be far fewer EGR cooler failures on these, than previous model year engines.
Vermillian. How many miles when you had this problem.
she has 22 000 km on her, now i will admit that i haven't been able to do any heavy towing or hauling regularly with her, but i do open it up and avoid over excessive idoling.
now as for the bad fuel, im very stringy when it comes to fueling, and i ensure to only get my fuel from the same company (cheveron) and also the same location everytime. Im willing to wager though that it isn't my fuel at all. When i talked to the dealership about this, they actually told me that thats what the whole NOX upgrade is adressing esspecially in sd's built in 2010 with 6.7L
I was told that the entire left bank in the EGR was clogged right up.
H&S can fix that EGR issue for you....won't ever have another problem with it.
ive already thought about doing all the good stuff to it, but i know that if i do im gona be voiding the warenty on the truck. Now its not a big deal at this point in time, I just find it to be more of a hassel if anything. Though H&S im gona have to keep them in mind for sure. Thank you Andrew.
