Wondering

As a lot of us are starting to have quite a few years (as well as miles) on our trucks, how many still enjoy the ole thrill of a 6.0 firing up?

Still enjoying the thrill or is the thrill gone?

Have any future plans for the truck (fun or otherwise) or going to try to unload it as soon as you can?

Well. Only had mine for 2 years an still love it. It did put me down last summer when I pulled my 30 foot camper to a campground only a hour away. I was ready to torch it then but I ready ALOT on here an did all the upgrades. Now she runs strong an is ready for another summer of camper pulling.

As far as future plans for her. 4.56 gears. Bigger lift. Bilstein 7100 shocks. Cab lights. LED's in all the lights. An I'm sure I will find other stuff I want to add to her. But have to see. She is pretty sexy the way she is now.

Plans are to keep her for ALONG time. Only 153,000 miles on her. My daughter is 8 an this will be her first vehicle when she is old enough to drive. (SCT tuner speed limiter will b set to 55)

Wish I could post a picture of her but I'm on my iPhone an don't know how to.

I've had mine for three years now, and she only has 62k miles on her, so I'm hoping to keep her for a long time. I do still love getting her out on the open road, and have a LOOOOOOOOONG list of mods that I want to do. The list is growing my faster than my bank account, so I might have to get a second job if I ever want to get the truck exactly how I want it!

I've had mine for 5 years this month. Still love the heck out of it, and I'm planning on keeping it for the foreseeable future. Even if it blew up tomorrow there's just no way I could afford a new Super Duty right now, I'd need to mortgage my soul just to buy an XL with the 6.7L.

I love my truck, everytime I get in it, it just does it for me. Would I like to have a new 6.7...yup, but I cant justify the payment, and they dont sound like a diesel, Im not sure I would want that truck when its out of warranty either. I am jealous of everyone that has 1 though.

As for my truck Ive had it almost 6 years, I am in the process of upgrading the injectors, installing a new Power Max Turbo, Stand Pipes and Dummy plugs, the drivers window regulator pooped out this weekend. I have quite a few mods already.

I am planning a regear next year, either 4.10 or 4.30 with the new 5er Im thinking 3.73 isnt going to be good enough. I have no plans to get rid of this truck unless its so unstable towing the 5er I dont feel sage, but at 10,355lbs I think Ill be ok.

If and when the heads need to come off I will do that too, I only have 68k on it, and the thought of a $800 a month payment makes me cringe, so me and the 06 will be together a long time to come.

Exactly... no matter what kind of work I do on my '06 (either because I want to, or because I have to), it will be cheaper than a new truck. I would want to mod a new truck anyway, so pretty much every dime I spend on this truck would be spend on the next one too (I've never been able to leave well enough alone!).

9 years, 250,000 miles and a lot of rust on mine.

I love the truck but it's a work truck and I'm always forced to remember that when it comes to writing out my wish list.

One thing I notice reading the forums is the difference in people's take on high mileage, and the number of miles people do per year.

The last 40,000 miles have been very expensive for me ($7,500 - doesn't include oil, etc.) as it seems just about everything seems to need to be replaced. Now that 40,000 miles for one driver could be 4 years, and $7.5k over 4 years might be fine. For others, that 40,000 miles might be one year and $7.5k in one year can really dampen the fire.

BTW, I track all my mileage for taxes and last year I did just over 7,000 miles in my cummins and explorer because the 6.0 was down. There are times when I do wish I had a newer truck and wonder if the monthly payments would make it a wash, and also the reliability/downtime would improve.

I'm also hoping that the $7.5k I dropped this year will mean next year will be better ... but then there's my high mileage injectors and a turbo possibly waiting for me so we'll see.

I guess it's "love / hate" to sum it all up

Dont do it, you will never be happy. When my 04 was bought back, my negatiated buy back truck was a F-150...awesome truck, and it spoiled me for all others, it was a Larait so now I will always have a Larait, but as soon as I loaded it up I hated it...power and mileage wise.

My daily driver FD Chiefs truck is a 08 F-150 and its nice but I still really enjoy my 06 SD, I will be getting a new 2012 F-150 with the Eco Boost soon for my new Chiefs truck. I am super excited about getting it and even thought about trading my truck for one, I can say with 100% honesty Im glad I didnt. But now with the new 5er comming in I wouldnt have been able to get the 36' the wife wanted.

Just got the call my 175cc injectors w/ 75% nozzles will be in next week. Looks like I need to order the power max from Riff Raff now.

I'm turned off by any of the diesels after the 6.0. Not sure I would want one. So if I'm going to run a diesel, this is probably going to be it for the forseeable future. I still love driving it.

The key is to have both the 6.0 and the 150 to drive.

The 150s are nice, but they don't get the juices flowing like a souped up 6.0.
