FICM pulled, off to Ed

FICM pulled, off to Ed
Well, just pulled my FICM. Wife is getting it ready to ship off to Ed.
Thanks to all of you who have posted about pulling those tight little connectors.
I did not brake any of the clips.
After our concrete project tomorrow, which will be all day, I will be tackling the turbo. Pulling it to clean the vanes. I believe they are sticking.
My VGT% pegs 85% every stop. I hadn't seen that number before. Usually tops out at 77%.
Should be fun time while on vacation!

Ok, KOEO, FICMMPV is getting lower and lower. The other day, started at 30V. Now, if you have seen my posts, I let the FICM climb to 48 before I turn the key. So, I have never short started my truck below 48V. Which I think has saved me injectors.
Now, as for the turbo. My truck only has 53,000 miles on her. I bought her in 09 with 28,000 on the clock. Yet, she has had 3 turbos. The original and 2 more. Before I bought her.
As you have seen. My mileage sucks big time. I noticed about a month ago, blue smoke on start up. I decided to do some Italian tune ups on it. The blue smoke went away.
Well, watching my SGII and the VGT% got my attention. When ever I stop, hot engine, idle, my VGT% pegs at 85%. Now, before this, my VGT% was around 75-77%. Never higher.
The other day, I did a WOT, and noticed my boost hit high 28s. It's never hit that high before. Remember, I'm stock.
So, I'm thinking sticking vanes. But, I'm thinking, maybe these sticking vanes are having an issue with my lousy fuel mileage.
Also, the other day, while driving home from work, I notice my boost is at 9.8. I usually see down in the 5.0 range, maybe 6.2. But 9! Something is up, in my mind anyway.
So, the FICM will come back fixed and with the Atlas 40 tune. And My turbo will be cleaned. We will see.
So, another question I have, Can the VGT solenoid be bench tested?
As for sockets? I got a great set of impact sockets for Christmas.
First, I am building a table to sit on for taking out the turbo. More in the morning!
( I got an upgraded drain tube for the turbo)
your thoughts?

Nary a FART. All the sensors are doing as they should. A couple weeks ago, I thought, what the heck, I'll clean the EBP tube and MAP tube. Even though they read nearly the same every morning.
So, I'm left with the turbo.
So you know. My strategy is one of the inferred EBP.
I'm really leaning to rolling back.
We will see in a couple of days if my thought process is correct.
Glad I have the SGII.
Best purchase ever.
