Jumpy speedo?

Jumpy speedo?
Hi guys, the speedometer on my 79 f150 has always been very jumpy especially at slower speeds. Do I have to change the speedo or is there some other fix for this. Thanks in advance.

If that doesn't work, check the little gear in the tranny housing. Could be a fubared tooth. White lithium grease is what I use. they tell you that it is pregreased from the parts house but it's not enough...

The brown truck is also like that. Nothing at all until about 20 mph, then the needle catches up.
NumberDummy suggests graphite lube for the speedo cable. I'm not yet ambitious enough to do that.
