So I am in the middle of putting in some new injectors and injector cups, and I have decided to try to stop the slow oil leak that has plagued me for years. It is on the back of motor passanger side. At first I thought it was just the valve cover gasket, because I was missing a valve cover bolt on the back of the motor. I never have oil in the valley, and it it seems to drip down the exhaust and all over the starter. I have been loosing about 2 quarts of oil and oil change. it still runs fine, but I am tired of leaving my mark everywhere. So I crawled under the truck and tried to take some pics. At first I thought it was dripping out of the brass oil line fitting, but it actually looks more like it is coming out of the empty bolt hole underneath that fitting. Is there supposed to be something there? I am really confused now. I have some pics, and I would really appreciate any ideas or advice. Unfortunately i am not sure how to insert pics. Any help is appreciated.
In the third pic you can see the fuel line coming in from the left, just behind that is the large screw in plug for the HPO galley. If its not your turbo O-rings leaking I would bet its coming from the galley plug, its somewhat of a common thing on these engines.
So i have looked it over, dried it off, looked again, and the best i can tell is that it is slowly leaking from the giant brass plug, near the fuel line brass fitting. Now my question is, how in the world do i tighten that? Do i need to unscrew it and put a washer or something on it? Does the down-pipe have to come off? I tried just loosening it up, but i still couldn't get the clearance to get a 1/2 drive on it.
