Oil Leak...

I searched this FYI..

But I did not come up with any info that helped.

I degreased the engine and I took a look at it.. Not finding any leaks as of yet.

Other than my driver side upper intake boot has a little bit of oil coming out.. stupid CCV thing.

I can't wait to remove that.

Would all the oil that was in the valley be from the boots leaking?

also,

what are the real trouble spots to look, i'm not the best at this. Valve covers were replaced earlier this year..

Pics would help a ton.

Thanks alot guys.

Where was the puddle in the valley? Front middle or back? How much oil over how many miles are we talking about? You can answer that while I look for pics. Also let me know how many of these items your familiar with.

Off the top of my head, HPOP lines, HPOP end plug, HPOP non-serviceable plug, orange boots on intake plenums, turbo pedestal o-rings, EBPV actuator rod, valve cover gaskets, plugs in the oil rail

I get a little oil in the middle of the valley. I think it comes from the intake boots.

OK, front of the motor is likely an HPOP related issue. Remove the plastic appearance cover off the top of the fuel filter so you can see things. The rectangular box with a circle around the plug is the HPOP reservoir

There's a small and unlikely chance that the gasket between the upper part of that reservor and front cover is leaking. Behind that, down low on the drivers side (almost below the fuel filter bowl) you'll find the HPOP. When it's out of the motor it looks like this

Here you will see where the 2 HPO lines attach to the pump then run back to each head. You can also note the location of the end plug that has been known to leak. If it's the lines or plug leaking, you can buy replacement o-rings from Replacement O-rings for Diesel Engines

Here's an overview type shot that gives you a few more locations

Now just be sure that the puddle was indeed oil and not diesel fuel that picked up some grime from on top of the motor and looked like oil (another o-ring issue). The old sniff test will tell you for sure.

well....just hope you're luckier than i am. i had a small hanging oil drop so i took it into the dealership. I went to check on it and when i walked into the shop the cab was removed and 15 ft in the air and the engine was completely removed and sitting on a stand. just HOPE that it's not the bedplate haha!

Looked at everything and found nothing. It's all clean after about 30 miles.

I think it's the CCV valve just getting junk all over everything..

I'm gonna check it religiously and see if I can find anything,

Thanks for all the help fellas.
