I am currently building a flatbed for my '66. I am almost ready for paint. I need a hard, scratch resistant, durable black paint. I also need to paint my frame. I am thinking POR 15 for both? Is there something better out there? I don't want to powder coat because there will always be a time when I need to add to my bed.
Por 15 fades with sun badly, I would suggest Line X spray on coating the stuff is so durable it's amazing from what I understand. See if there is someone in your area that does spray in box liners and you could do the flatbed, for the frame there is an amazing paint called endura black frame paint that is so nice you can actually brush it on and it will level out nice. Couple ideas for you.
You would have to paint the Por 15 as it will almost turn white eventually. Line X did a project on Gearz with Stacey David on Ted Nugents bronco and of course they had big claims how theirs is the best and from what they said it seemed good. You can probably find the episode I believe it was season 6.
Two suggestions. Farm implement paint is a natural choice. 2) UPOL Raptorliner is durable and easy to shoot. If need arises to recoat, all it needs is cleaned, wiped down with wax and grease remover and shoot it again. No other prep for recoat.
