My first diesel

I have been utilizing this forums abundance of information for about 3 months, made a few comments here and there, asking questions from time to time. I figure it is time to introduce myself to yall officially. I am Keith and this is my first Diesel. It's an 1987 F250 extended cab, 6.9 idi, C6 transmission, 4.10 gearing. All bone stock, I am the third owner, the first had it I assume close to 23 years, the second owner had it until this past March and I am now the proud owner. It has less than 100,000 original miles so I am told. No major leaks of any sort and a good bit of plans for the future.

I will be purchasing and installing and modifying the following, in no specific order.
ARP head studs
Banks Turbo
Rancho 9000 shocks
Appropriate Boost and Pyro Guages
Towing adapter mirrors
Pioneer Premium Speakers
HID Replacement Head Lights
PA speaker for my CB
Rhino Liner
New paint, same scheme- Tuxedo Black Platinum and Metallic Gun Metal Grey
4" Exhaust
Rear Window Decal- "Yes, I am driving slow, thanks for noticing"
Custom Disabled Veteran Tag- Invctus

That will be a nice looking truck. You will like those studs. It is a comforting feeling to torque those things down and walk away with the confidence that they will do their job.

I wish you luck on the project. Don't spend to much money on it. That's what guys who drive 60k new trucks tell me. I never listen to those hypocrites .

I hear that too, if your gonna spend all that money on your truck, why dont you just get a new one. I am still a huge advocate that if you do the "Preventive Scheduled Maintance" Then the truck will last forever. That and drive within your and the trucks ability. I am not going to take a stock S-10 thru anything remotely close to where I take my mud buggy, one again common sense. Which I guess isnt common any more. I had a buddy take his stock 2003 Explorer out into a field with 2 feet of snow during the winter break up and bury it. His first response was, well i had it in 4 wheel drive. I was in the diesel, daisy chained 3 tow straps and ran it thru my ****** block which got chained to a tree, I stayed on pavement and pulled him right out. He was pissed cause it took a little while and he was baffled as to why i didnt just drive out too him.

Lol. Oh yeah, just drive on out and get me. My dad and his friend made a lot of money on a hunting trip pulling people out of the mud. He normally is the helpful sort without asking for payment but in this case he was wasting hunting time. Story went that one guy got stuck out in the mud and so did the guy that came to help him, and so on and so on....... I think he pulled out five or so cars. Always loved that story.

The new trucks are nice, but I'm just not in to them. One little gismo goes out and your stranded. I think the newer fords are a little tight up front, not a lot of leg room. And I like to know that if I take care of something it will last. I once drove a 6.9 over 300 miles on a blown head gasket and compression on 6 cylinders. Try that on a new truck. Thing would probably go into self destruct mode . If all that computerized stuff is so necessary than how did we get to the moon without it?

And like your paint scheme. That should look sweeeeeet!
