Not sure if you're installing the '08 and up version of mirrors? If so, here is a schematic and mirror plug layout. If you are doing an '08 mirror install and wanting it to work and look like factory...have more diagrams of the switch, power fold module with wiring, and extend switch. As I just recently did the upgrade and wiring on my 2000 F250 that had the original powered trailer tow mirrors.

My switch has 8 contacts and the mirrors2 wires. This has to be simple but all the schematics I have seen have way more wires.

You referring to this switch (newer mirror control switch with fold built in)?

I think rhis is the correct plug but I don't have power fold mirrors. I have bais power towing mirrors, no turn signals or heated mirror. Is this the correct wiring for what I have.

What year model are the new mirrors you're installing? The switch I showed previously is for the 08 type mirror switch.

I bought a pair of aftermarket mirrors on Ebay. Just got them today and they are 3 wires mirrors. They have the round plug like Ford has. The switch is a Ford switch. It has 8 contacts and the plug in area is about 1/2" x 1". I am very impressed with the quality of the mirrors. They are extremely heavy duty.

Sounds like they're the 99-03 style mirrors? 3 wires would basically mean; left/right, up/down, pwr.

Here a 00 mirror wiring diagram:
