Damanged the side mirrors?

On my 04 Navi the side mirrors do not fold in and out. I can adjust the mirror on both sides just fine. My question is, since I myself fold the mirrors in and out, would I have damaged anything in the mirror itself by doing this. I am wanting to get this fixed but do not want to spend money on a new switch if I might have damaged the mirror itself. Thanks.

The only way to know for sure is to access the electrical connector for the mirror switch and manually apply power to the folding motor terminals to see if they move.

Terminals 1 & 6 go to both folding motors while 2 & 7 are the ground and power. Supplying ground and power to 1 & 6 will make the motors move one way. Reversing the polarity will make them move the other way.

See the attached diagram.

Thank you for that diagram. I am not good with electrical stuff, but my question is you said 1 and 7 is the power and ground. From the diagram 1 is the fold in feed and 7 is the voltage supplied at all times. I am confused as always.

Sorry, 2 & 7, I'll correct it in my post above.

When you connect jumper wires from 2 to 6 and from 7 to 1 the mirrors should fold in. Reverse that, 7 to 6 and 2 to 1 and the mirrors should fold out. Don't leave the jumpers in after the mirrors have folded in or out all the way because you will keep supplying power to the motors non-stop. The key does not have to be on for the mirrors to fold, so the only way to stop the power is to pull out at least one of the jumper wires.

What can I use as a power source? So for example to move the mirror in, I would use one wire's end to pin 2 and the other to a good ground spot. A second wire's end from power source to pin 7 for power. A third wire's end from pin 1 to ??? Told you I wasn't good at this.

No you connect just as I explained above. Using the mirror switch electrical connector...connect one jumper wire from terminal 2 to 6 and a second jumper from 7 to 1 and the mirrors should fold in. Once they fold all the way in pull out both jumpers.

To make the mirrors fold out, again using the mirror switch electrical connector...connect a jumper wire from 7 to 6 and a second jumper wire from 2 to 1 and the mirrors should fold out. Once they have folded all the way out pull out both jumper wires.

Terminal 7 is +12 volts and terminal 2 is ground, so those are your power source.
