Anybody got a homemade lift kit on their 3/4-1 ton ford? I have a '91 F250 and am pondering a little more height, enough for 35's.
Just curious if anyone has done fabricated their own lift and if so what did you use (blocks, leafs..)
I don't think there are many home made lift kits around. I know Oreo has one, but his is overkill.
Generally all you'll need is about 4" to clear 35's and have it not look "off".
I believe at stock you can clear 35's but the front bumper needs to be trimmed, and there will be some rubbing when you do full turns.
I would just say pony up the money and get the front lifted properly, blocks up there tend to cause more trouble than benefit, and I believe are illegal some places, and just get longer u-bolts and toss a block in the rear if you want to save money.
Yeah, I have a little more than stock anyway. (added leaf springs to level and stiffen). I actually think it'll clear now but didn't want it to look "off".
Its hard to describe, but you know it when you see it good or bad.
Around 3-5" looks good with 35's if you are already up a bit, you could look into a body lift, leveling kit, or a shackle reversal.
Yeah that may be what I do, but I am trying to stay away from the body lifts because of the gap between the bumpers and the way it shows more of the undercarriage... But this is all just curious conversation anyway haha I'll most likely leave it unless we find another work truck for the farm
No I get it, I want to lift my truck, just haven't put enough money away to do it properly, or had enough down time. Wouldn't want to do it piece at a time. Rather lift and install tires at the same time instead of do a bit each weekend. Hate seeing half finished trucks running around, lifted with stock tires. Happens a lot up here, especially in winter when they don't have full size winter tires. Lol
Oh yeah they white trashem out here too haha or the opposite, jam 40's on and take the torch to the body haha
I bought this truck for 1,500... One of those fixer ups. And really it was worth 3k, I thought anyway. But the E40D is getting weak and sluggish, and there are three places in the body that need fixing. The motor and the rest of the drive train are very solid tho.
Id like to do a lot but, like you just haven't had the extra room on the budget for my toy like upgrades haha
I can dream tho
Yeah it needs ball joints anyway so I guess I could adjust it then of I went that route?
I had two before this one and we put a leaf spring in them to level and take the slack out of the twin I beam bushings
