eBay is trying to compete with Amazon. If you know anything about Amazon, they're very strict on sellers that sell on their website. One complaint against the seller and they're gone from Amazon. eBay should just stick to their core business, auctions, and stay out of the Amazon marketplace business. That's why I mostly sell my parts on CL, Ford Barn and the HAMB for now. I'm also building my own website in order to be able to sell the leftovers that I have. F-eBay.

See, now this thread went from hub cap discussion, John telling Doc to drop dead, to eBay fees. Ain't FTE great?

Well i did enjoy and do miss the old days of eBay, back when it was made up of mostly guys like us. Corporate greed seems to have ruined it, as itdoes most things. I never really knew much about Amazon and probably only bought 2 things from there. Knowing that they are really strict on their seller, maybe I'll do more business with them in the future on things.

On man... I've forgotten about Ford Barn! Been quite a while since I've been on there. Lots of good parts and resources on there. And yep, I'm on CL all the time, surfin the ads.

Meg Whitman ruined eBay and then tried to ruin the state by running for governor. Luckily, Mr. Brown won.

I've bought a lot of items from Amazon. I like to buy from there because if it's an item sold directly by Amazon, you get free shipping on purchases over $25. Private sellers on Amazon also charge a more reasonable shipping cost than the ones on eBay.

I use to be a power seller on ebay back in the early 2000's. It was great. Then ebay got greedy and stupid. Then they jumped into bed, ok bought the bed with Paypal and it had gone to crap every since. Last year I had my Paypal account put on hold. When I inquired about the action I was told that I wasn't selling enough and therefore they would hold my payments for up to 21 days. I guess a 100% positive feedback meant nothing. That move never made sense to me. Motivate the seller by making his business harder to conduct. I stopped selling that day on ebay and never looked back. They still have the nerve to email me and ask where I have gone. The sad thing is ebay also owns a percentage of Craigslist. Still waiting for that shoe to fall.

I remember talking to people and reading posts on different boards about how eBay was killing swap meets. With their ever growing fees I think swap meets might be making a come back. I'm trying to arrange a time to sell at a swap meet this years. I have a trailer full of miscellaneous auto parts I want to clear out of my shop. If I was to list them on eBay It would take all my time trying to track the sells, package and ship and in the end get gouged by eBay and Paypal.

I think it would be less time, work and aggrevation loading my junk up in my truck and on my trailer and sit in the fresh air BSing with other like minded individuals than got through the eBay hassle. The last few times I've listed items on eBay only a few items sold.

I like how over the years eBay has instituted all types of procedures to keep us safe but just turn out to add money to their coffers. One thing I think is funny is the items listed through a listing agent, professional eBay listers. I've seen some small ticket items, as low as $10, sold through this arrangement. Not only does eBay and Paypal get their "taste" of the sale but the selling agents get a pretty good piece so if an item sells for $10 the seller must only get $5.

lower price

Hey Bob, the hubcaps "closed" again with a winning bidder and a considerable lower price then the first time around. You dont relist an item with the same item number if you dont get the amount you desire. You set a reserve price. How much do you want to bet it will be relisted again with the same item#.
