I'm about to replace the shocks on my 75 F250 2WD. I need your advice on what to buy.
I've had the truck for about 2 years with a lot of time and money well spent getting it running great. It had been sitting idle for over 8 years when I got it. My next step is to finally grease the front wheel bearings and then replace the old, old shocks that have been on there since who knows when.
The truck is built a little heavier duty than stock. The manufacturing order says it was purchased with auxiliary 2740 lb. rear springs and upgraded to 6900 GVW. Not sure what all that means. Looking for a firm...not too stiff.. ride for driving the rural roads where I live in the Cascade foothills 30 miles east of Seattle.
Personally, I prefer Bilstein HDs and KYB GR2s. The PO installed KYB Gas-A-Justs in my 65 Mustang and it rides hard. My 73 F100 4WD has Rancho 5000s but the stiffness comes from the springs. However, these rigs tend to ride stiff anyway so it's your call.
Others in here with 2WDs seem to go for Monroe-matics.
