My truck has over 90K miles, and I don't think any shocks or springs were ever replaced on it. It is a 96 2wd i6 btw. I think the ride is harsh, but I've thought it was harsh even 30K miles ago. Right now I'm not sure if it's gotten worse over time or not. Do most people replace shocks around 90K/100K miles? It is just street and highway driven, its only taken offroad for fun occasionally. I just feel like I'm bobbing around too much while driving on those older/cracked roads (which I have a lot of in my city). Should I get some aftermarket springs/shocks?
i would look into a new set of shocks, if ride is to bumpy/bouncey get stiffer shocks but not so stiff that you can feel every little pebble on the street.
Could my springs or bushings be the problem? Or is it most likely the shocks? Do street-driven shocks usually go around 90K miles?
Regarding Rancho shocks... If I don't tow anything should I still bother getting the RS9000's or should I opt for the more affordable RSX or RS5000's ?
i think that it would most likely be the shocks, im runnin RS9000's and love them, but they are quite expensive. you might want to run the RSX's, they automaticly adjust the ride for the type of terrain your goin over. im a big fan of Rancho, so recomendation wise id stick with them.
