Front shocks replacement 2wd

Replacing the front shocks on my 75 F100 2wd today. Purchased shocks from autozone and they seem to be too one, after going back to autozone, they told me that you will need to remove or loosen the springs in order to give you enough room to put the Gabriel shocks in, then, the truck will seem a little high in the front for about a week or two as the weight settles them in. Is this accurate? Will I need to also loosen or remove the springs to install shocks? The shock I have are strapped together and not "opened" yet, I did my rear shocks the other day without any need to loosen the springs.

Horse Hockey! They don't know what they are talking about. The straps are to keep the gas charged struts from expanding before you are ready. I'd go online and find the part number for yourself to see if it's correct.

WOW! That guys gets PAID to work there? I've never heard of removing springs to install shocks! Although, I did have to remove the back seat in my mom's 65 mustang to change her shocks... and I thought THAT was crazy!
