460 7.5 ltr dually oil pan replacement.
Wondering if I should do this myself or hand it off to the mechanic. Need to replace the oil pan in a 1997 f super duty 460. Does the motor need to be pulled? Haynes doens't go back as far as 97 for the truck!!

you proably won't have to pull the motor (all though it makes removing the pan really simple then) but you will have to lift the motor to get the pan off. it should be a rear sump pan on those trucks and the front of the pan only has a couple of inches of clearance over the front crossmember. the oil pump is at the front passenger side so the pan has to drop at least 6" to clear the pump and pickup tube to remove it. can't do that without at least lifting up the motor a couple of inches.
