I didn't take any of your statement the wrong way. I was simply just throwing out some questions, only interested to see what kind of responses would be posted, and yours is the first.

I am a truck driver by trade an it took me about 2 months to get all my parts ordered an do the work. I did have another truck to drive back an forth to work. It's a big job to do HG's an all the other upgrades to these trucks. I'm not saying anyone can do this kinda job. It's a lot more detailed than changing oil. I just wanted to do it myself so I could get a good idea of how/what makes this engine tick, an to prove my wife wrong again. I knew I could do the work an get it all back together.
..... and I don't have a problem with anyone wanting to wrench on their own ride, as long as they have the skill/time/tools to do it. In fact, that was the whole point to my questions in the post above. It took you two months to do the job yourself, which I hasten to add there is absolutely nothing wrong with, as long as you had the means to make alternative arrangements for transportation as well as the space to down your truck.

And again, that was the whole point to the questions in my post above.

Carry on with the responses.....

Ok. I didn't want to pi$$ anyone off on here or step on any toes.

Your post does bring up good question as to the cost of paying a good mechanic to do it verses the cost an downtime of doing it urself.

Downtime didn't matter to me as I have only put 10,000 mile on truck since I bought it 2 years ago. But for others that use their truck as daily driver this wood be different.

Toolbox isn't as big or as full as your is m-chan but got enough to fix just about anything I have around my house. Have been wrenching on cars since I was about 12 or so with my dad. Living in the country always had to wrench on something. Cars. Tractors. Hay bailer. Hay cutter. Tiller. Couldnt afford to pay someone to fix that stuff so had to learn to fix it urself. Then was a F/A 18 aircraft mechanic in the Marines. Some people have never turned a wrench in their life. They always pay someone to fix it. An there isn't anything wrong with that at all, if you can afford it. I would have much rather paid someone to do my HG an studs. Because that's a HELL of a hard job to do with the cab on the truck. But didn't have that kinda money in my pocket to hand over.

Ok. I need to stop talkin now.

Be back later.
